¡Milán, Portugal, y Adiós!

Let me first say that it is ridiculously hard to get the motivation to write about a trip after you are home from it. I think there are a few reasons for this. First, jet lag, I have been too tired to do anything but what was required of me the past week.. Second, a little part of my soul is dying and thinking about Spain makes it all the harder. Finally, there are a million other excuses, but here I am.

I am going to try to recap the last two weeks of my time in Spain, but even with it only being a few weeks ago, it is hard to remember the little details.

¡London and Thanks!

I can’t believe the last time I wrote was about Morocco! That seems like a lifetime ago, and yet I cannot believe we have passed that check point and another! Last weekend I was able to go visit my dear friend from SPU Chloe in Canterbury, England where she is studying. We had a ton of fun together and it was absolutely wonderful seeing someone from home!

After waking up early enough to see people going out for the evening, I caught a taxi to the airport. Interesting fact, security doesn’t open at the Sevilla airport until 5:00am, even if you have a flight leaving at 6:50am. So I sat around for a while in the Sevilla airport. And then some more in the Madrid airport. However, the Madrid airport was decorated for Christmas, so that was fun to see. There were even giant mice singing American Christmas music. Adorable, albeit a bit creepy. After a ride on the tube and another train ride, I was in Canterbury!

¡Marruecos!

So I spent the weekend camping in the Sahara desert.
(I cannot believe I just typed that sentence.)

¡Córdoba y Granada!

Whew. Where to begin? Every day is a new adventure here, and I wish I could write about every single thing. But I can’t. So here are a few of the cooler things that have happened.

Last weekend we traveled to Córdoba and Granada with my group. We arrived in Córdoba in the early afternoon. We saw this really cool mosque that had a church inside of it. Yes, the Christian church was inside of the mosque. The reasons behind this were: A) the mosque was beautifully created, and they didn’t want to destroy it. B) Due to the architecture of the columns and the arches, they couldn’t just rip down part of it. It was an all or nothing thing. C) It made them seem merciful to allow it to remain standing. However, it was prime real estate, so they built the church in the very center of the mosque. It was cool.

We also saw the Jewish quarter, did some shopping, and ate some delicious food. That was Córdoba. Small, beautiful, and awesome.

¡Málaga y Bolonia!

I wasn't going to post until I had something to write about, but that was dumb, because I always have something to write about. However, now I have something that other people might want to read.

So. Last weekend we went to Málaga. A beautiful little town that was home to Picasso and now is the location of a museum holding many of his works. We got to go to the museum but, as with most art museums, we couldn't take any picture inside. The majority of the art was donated by his family from their private collection so there was a lot of stuff that wasn't necessarily meant for the public. Lots of only partially completed works and crude sculptures. However, it was really cool to see the pieces and I am nearly convinced Picasso was on drugs.

¡Sevilla y Ronda!

Two whole weeks. That is how long I have now been in Sevilla, just enough time for it to begin setting in that I am here and I am staying here for three months. I can also successfully navigate my way to school and a few primary spots without getting lost, and even gave directions to some lost French women. Cade and I are now usual’s at a café, where our friend Miguel "accidentally" forgets to put things on our bill. Classes are going well, although it seems strange to be doing business homework in a city like this. I am running on tons of energy after going to bed embarrassingly early last night at 12:30. So here we go.

¡Sevilla!

I have officially been in Sevilla for almost four whole days. It seems like it has been a month with all that we have packed in. So, lets start from the beginning.

¡Madrid y Toledo!

So that beautiful picture above? That is my view as I am writing this post. Thought you all should know. We have left the great city of Madrid and are now in Toledo, a beautiful, old city that is exactly what you envision when you think of Spain. However, I am getting ahead of myself, we still have some Madrid stuff to cover.

(Also, I will not be posting everyday, that would be crazy, and very presumptuous of me to think anyonewould read my ramblings that often, but things are wild these first couple of days).

¡Madrid!

I haven’t ever done this blogging thing before, but since so many people have said they want updates, I will give it a go. There is not much to say about my fourteen hours of travel. Before I left I got a phone call from an Unknown number, glad I answered it because it was my Dad who is currently in the middle of nowhere (or so he says, his location is top-secret) on an aircraft carrier. It was wonderful getting to talk to my Dad before heading out on this adventure!
